Commander Strax is a Sontaran, a member of a clone race bred purely for war, who appears in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who.

Stranded on Earth after an injury sustained in battle, he was nursed back to health by Vastra, a Silurian detective. As a result, Strax developed a deep loyalty to Vastra and her human wife, Jenny Flint, becoming their devoted butler and a valuable asset in their detective agency.

Despite his Sontaran programming which often leads to inappropriate and violent outbursts, Strax struggles to reconcile his warrior instincts with his domestic role. He displays a bizarre, often humorous, misunderstanding of human customs and social interactions. He is known for offering to “prepare the poison gas” for unwelcome guests and his general enthusiasm for warfare, even in situations where it's entirely unsuitable.

Strax has assisted the Doctor on numerous occasions, proving to be a surprisingly effective ally. He is fiercely loyal and despite his aggressive tendencies, capable of genuine affection and camaraderie.
